Mark Your Calendars for These 7 Events Coming to Fairfield County

If you’re planning a trip to the Fairfield area or are a Fairfield resident looking for something fun to do, be sure to circle these dates on your calendar.

You may have heard of Fairfield because of its proximity to Long Island or because you’ve been in the market for Fairfield, CT new homes, but there’s a lot more to know about this charming town. In fact, there are several exciting events coming to the Fairfield area in the near future, and we want to make sure you don’t miss any of them. Here are seven can’t-miss events coming soon to the Fairfield area:

1. StrEATeries in Stamford Downtown—April-November

StrEATeries is a new initiative created by Stamford Downtown to help bring people into local restaurants and stores. On StrEATeries days and nights, the city will turn parking spaces and streets into expanded spaces for sitting and eating. Altogether, this initiative creates around 1,000 extra seats for outdoor dining. Many restaurants will expand their outdoor patios into the street, so keep in mind that some roads may be closed or limited during this time. Anyone shopping for Fairfield, CT’s new homes will love to participate in this event and enjoy all of the tasty food that is offered.

2. Beauty and the Beast at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre—April 2-May 22

This is the same Beauty and the Beast production that you know and love, offered by a local theater with area actors. The show is offered at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the month of April. If you’ve never watched the play before, come see how a princess could possibly fall in love with a beast. If you’re already familiar with the show, you’ll love the local presentation and adaptation.

3. Riverfield School Carnival—May 6-8

If you’re familiar with the area, or even if you’ve just recently begun shopping for Fairfield real estate for sale, you’ve probably heard about the Riverfield school carnival. Despite what the name may lead you to believe, this is not just a carnival for school-aged students. This is an event the entire community has come to look forward to and enjoy. The annual carnival is held on the property behind the school building. Rides are provided for everyone from toddlers to adults, and guests can enjoy unlimited rides by purchasing a wristband. There will be traditional carnival-style snacks available, along with food served from food trucks such as Colony Pizza Truck, Cristophe’s Crepes, Snappy Dawgs, and Paula’s Ice Cream. Proceeds from the carnival are used to support children’s programs, educational field trips, and visits from authors throughout the year. Plenty of fun is had, and the community is always encouraged by watching people come together to support the students and their education.

4. Notre Dame Garlic Festival—May 13-15

The Notre Dame Garlic Fest is put on by Notre Dame High School in memory of Bill Sangiovanni, the original founder. This festival is a celebration of all things garlic. There is a wide variety of entertainment options along with food trucks, vendors, entertainment, and plenty of garlic-themed bites. You’ll also love the Garlic Fest Specialty Craft Brew, which was first introduced in 2019.

5. Town of Fairfield Fireworks—July 2

The town of Fairfield has one of the best 4th of July fireworks shows around. The fireworks are visible from Penfield and Jennings beaches. Parking is available for pre-purchase and is limited to 300 vehicles at Jennings Beach and the first 100 at Penfield Beach. Anyone who wants to park at the Ash Creek parking lot will have to pay a daily fee. Lots fill quickly, so you’ll need to arrive early to ensure that you can get a spot. Entertainment is also offered at both beaches beginning at 6 pm and leading up to the time when fireworks start. It’s a great time for the whole family.

6. Sand Jam Movie Nights—June 10, June 24, July 8, July 21, and August 4

Sand Jam Movie Nights are back for another year at Jennings Beach. The festivities begin with a DJ at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will start playing at dark. This year, some of the movies that you can expect to see are Luca, Encanto, Soul, Sing 2, and Mitchells vs Machines. You’ll also love the double-up dancing that begins at 6:30 p.m. when the DJ starts.

7. Enchanted Castle—October 10-31

The Enchanted Castle first opened in 1991 and has been offering guests a magical storybook experience ever since. Since 2019, the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County has been in charge of the event. Parents and children will tour the Burr homestead together, and you’ll love seeing how each room is decorated differently. Some characters featured are Cinderella, the Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast, along with Pirates and Aladdin. In each room, you’ll find characters dressed on theme who will tell their stories. After the tour, everyone is invited to stay for food, drinks, face-painting, and more. This event is designed specifically for children ages two to 10 but is sure to be an enjoyable experience for the entire family.
